Early Life

Joseph was born in Montana to Claurice and David Barkmann. The Barkmann family owned a struggling family farm, that had been handed down the generations since the 1850’s. Joseph was an only child. Growing up Joseph’s father wanted his son to be a good man no matter what path he led in life, making sure he knew moral values, and how to treat his fellows with respect and dignity.

As Joseph grew, the family farm became harder and harder for the Barkmann’s to keep operational. That is why on Joseph’s eighteenth birthday he registered for service under the US Military, his father sold the farm a few years later realizing his son had no interest in the family trade.

After only a year in the army Joseph was drafted into the Green Berets for his exceptional skill, and tactical mind. Joseph flew through the ranks for his commendable leadership, and extremely successful operations becoming a Gunnery Chief in under three years of service.

DSO Service

On his third year of service, Gunnery Chief Barkmann was recruited by the DSO for a Vanguard team. He learned of the Divinus, an organization that had biologically augmented themselves to overthrow the American government. Over the next year and a half he worked under the DSO administration, capturing and sometimes killing those who were called “enemies of the state” believing in his country he continued to work as a DSO Vanguard for the next year and a half. Over the course of his service he began to notice some physical changes, able to run faster than his comrades, recover faster from injuries. Joseph chalked this up to his body adapting to his lifestyle.

A year into his service he was serving in London, England on the Day of Truths. The world learned of the Divinus, while he was told they were terrorists, the world learned they were another microcosm of our species. The DSO chalked it up to “what the public needed to know to avoid panic”, but Joseph began to become suspicious.

A half a year later Joseph was assigned to a top secret operation, Valkyrie, an operation to reveal Divinus cells and destroy them personally. Joseph was given a new name “Aidan”, and his first assignment was to the city of Los Angeles to infiltrate a Divinus cell, and eliminate them. He was informed that this cell was using a support group as a front to plot terrorist activities.

He decided to listen to them before he wiped them out, so he joined a session of the group. Instead of plots of terrorism to destroy the government, he heard the troubles of strangers who were alienated by their fellows, spat on by their family, and looked down upon by their peers. He realised they went to this group to belong.

Joseph left the meeting, but was stopped by a tall man with raven black hair, and invited the DSO operative out for coffee. The man called himself Orion, and he explained to Aidan the reality of what the DSO was doing, and how much power they actually had. After revealing the reality of American internment camps, genetic testing on citizens, and complete corruption of the political system, Gunnery Chief Barkmann was offered a choice continue to work under the DSO and betray everything he was raised to be, or join the Divinus Rebellion and fight for the rights of all mankind. He chose the rights of all men, over the rights of homo sapiens.

Rebellion Service

Keeping his old codename, Aidan was assigned a squad, over the next year he was relayed orders from Orion. After a year of service under the rebellion he was given a new assignment. He was to be purposely captured by the DSO and be brought to the Tartarus prison facility, there he was to rescue two valuable assets to the rebellion’s cause Alphy Quinn, and a girl codenamed Dawncipher. Aidan accepted whole heartedly.
